Look How Far We Have Come!

Our hunger and desire to constantly improve on what currently exists drives innovation! And innovation will never stand still. We’re always looking for the newest and sleekest gadget and will happily buy the latest phone every year even though there’s absolutely nothing wrong with our existing one. Technology and software have come on leaps and bounds in the last 30 years and it’s so exciting to see where things will go.

Where did it all begin?

Apple is the number 1 leading tech company in the world and is valued at around $352 billion, but did you know that Steve Jobs founded Apple in 1976 in a garage with one of his friends also called Steve. Ironically, they had both dropped out of University. Now that very same company has spearheaded many technological advancements that are so easily accessible to us today. However, they haven’t always existed as we know them, in fact their first computer pretty much looked like some odd wires and a keyboard in a briefcase. It wasn’t until 1984 in which the first Apple computer started to take form. Since then, they’ve been at the very front of creating the newest and sleekest computers, gadgets and software that we know, love and frankly couldn’t function without! The below highlights just how different those Apple computers looked back then!

Over the years, not only Apple, but also the likes of Microsoft, Google, Android and Samsung have all developed ground-breaking software and devices that no one could have ever imagined needing or using. Thank god because now, especially in the pretty rubbish year of 2020 we really couldn’t live without them. When it comes to mobile software, Android has a 71% market share compared to Apple iOS which only has a 28% market share.

When did Social Media blow up?

Social media is another form of innovation no one would have ever seen coming. It is still relatively new in the grand scheme of things, but the way it has blown up and become a staple part of everyday life seems crazy compared to the days when the only way to communicate with loved one’s was to write a letter. Even when the likes of Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat came into fruition, none of us would have even given them a second thought thinking of it as a new fad, adding no real value to our lives - well little did we know! Now, those very social media platforms know pretty much everything about our lives, family, friends and shopping habits. The social media industry as of 2020 is now valued at an estimated total of $52.7 billion with an estimated 3.2 billion users worldwide.

So, with all that in mind, we now have pretty much everything at the touch of our fingertips. Apps such as Uber, Deliveroo, Zoom, Spotify and many more allow us to achieve almost anything without even needing to move or speak to anyone. All we do is tap our screens a couple of times and hey presto there is our answer. Scary really. Gone are the days where children go outside and ride their bike on the weekend, they’ll definitely be sat on the sofa playing on an iPad nowadays. Even our grandparents are enjoying some Candy Crush to keep them occupied through the mad year of 2020.

We wonder where we’ll be in another 50 years, watch this space.... our bet is phones built into our brains and flying cars, but maybe we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves. So, in the meantime, check out our product page here to browse our latest innovations in Wireless Charging.
